TAG submits complaint against Rajapaksa with UK Metropolitan Police

TAG has submitted a formal complaint to the UK Metropolitan Police today regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity alleged to have been committed by the Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa with the aim of bringing justice to the victims. Rajapaksa is due to visit the UK imminently in conjunction with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. While TAG appreciates the immunity issues involved, it is our understanding that this will not prevent the Metropolitan Police from opening a case file and commencing necessary investigations.
